New Aston Martin Valour: V12 manual sports car revealed
July 11, 2023byJamie Edkins
Aston Martin has just revealed a new three-pedal V12 sports car called the Valour. Read on for all you need to know.
Manual V12 sports cars are something of a rarity these days, but that’s just what the new Aston Martin Valour is. It’s especially rare because it’ll be limited to just 110 units worldwide.
Styled to look like a modern take on the original Aston Martin Vantage of the ‘70s, the Valour has 715hp and rear-wheel-drive.
This new Valour looks nothing like any Aston Martin you can buy today, however it does look similar to one you could buy 50 years ago. This car has been styled as a homage to the original Vantage of the 1970s.
Up front you have some round LED headlights and a wide grille in the traditional Aston Martin shape. The bonnet is also covered in vents and louvres, and you have an aggressive-looking lower splitter.
You have 21-inch honeycomb style alloy wheels, as well as some big carbon fibre skirts down the side. There’s no back window, just some horizontal slats and you have a large ducktail spoiler as well. The tail lights also look similar to the ones found on the Valkyrie.
In a world where most sports cars have fancy-pants dual-clutch automatic transmissions, those who like to feel more involved will be pleased to see three pedals in the new Valour.
It has a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox sending power to the rear wheels. The Valour puts out 715hp and 753Nm of torque, although Aston Martin hasn’t given a claimed 0-60mph time yet.
For a sports car to fuel truly involved, it takes more than just a big engine and a manual gearbox. The chassis has to be bang on as well.
The Valour gets a completely bespoke suspension setup with adaptive dampers, springs and anti-roll bars specifically tuned for the car. There’s also extra bracing around the rear suspension mounts and fuel tank to help tighten things up, and it’s been given a fast steering rack to help it feel more responsive.
Making sure you can stop as fast as you go are the standard-fit carbon ceramic brakes. You have 410mm discs up front gripped by six-piston callipers, and 360mm discs at the rear with four-piston callipers.
Aston Martin will start building the new Valour towards the end of the summer, with first deliveries expected by the end of the year.
Just 110 of these cars will ever be made, so expect to see a price tag well north of £500,000.
